Kingfisher a la Carte Restaurant
Tempt your tastebuds with mouth-watering plated fayre at the Kingfisher a la Carte Restaurant at Mongena Main Lodge, whilst enjoying spectacular views overlooking the watering hole and the surrounding plains of the game reserve. Tshukudu Lapa
Besides being Mongena Main Lodge’s major wedding reception venue with a capacity of 150 guests, traditional boma dinners are staged here around the open fireplace with the adjacent Tshukudu bar being the heart of this venue. Tshukudu is home to Mongena’s famous hot and cold breakfast buffets on selected days, featuring scrumptious freshly-baked pastries. Keep it intimate around a table in the restaurant, or spread our banquet out under the lapa.
Tshukudu Bar at main lodge
Part of the Mongena Lodge facilities is the modern bar adjoining the Tshukudu lapa and fireplace. This is the heart of the main lodge where safari experiences are fondly re-lived whilst sipping a well-deserved cocktail in good company!
Imvubu Function Venue
Perfect location for an alternative bush venue on the shores of the 30-hectare Mongena dam with amazing sunset views. Thatched lapa seating 80 banqueting style or 120 cinema/wedding style undercover with the adjacent open-air boma having a capacity of 150 banqueting guests. Ideally situated for exclusive private boma dinners, wedding ceremonies, conferences, team building, culinary bush breaks and other events. (up to 150 pax.)
Acacia Bush Site
Take your event outdoors to this unfenced, open-air venue, situated on the banks of the Pienaarsriver under a huge indigenous tree. This site is ideal for a surprise bush breakfast, adventurous wedding ceremonies and bush barbeque luncheons. It is a day-time only venue.
Chapel
The charming, thatched chapel at main lodge with its wooden shutters and rustic benches adds memorable moments to your safari wedding or other special day with a maximum capacity of 150 guests. It is also used for private theme and award dinners for groups of up to 80 guests.
Swimming pools
The sparkling swimming pool at main lodge and the infinity pool at Little Mongena tented camp provides relief in the summer heat! Sip a refreshing cocktail whilst soaking up the African sun! These facilities are for resident guests only!
Airstrip
The privately registered tarred airstrip is widely used for guests and enthusiastic weekend pilots. With a length of 1150 metres, it can accommodate aircraft up to Kingair, Pilatus and DC3’s types. Prior permission to land needs to be obtained from the Mongena Main Lodge Reception desk on +27 76 760 4947 or +27 12 711-8920 as the runway needs to be closed for vehicles during landing and take-off. No landing fees are charged for guests staying overnight at Mongena Private Game Reserve or flying in for meals and drinks.
